Mayday Memorial Surf Classic

On Saturday, May 21st starting at 9am, Flagler Pier will host Mayday Memorial Surf Classic in memory of Dollie Sue Watson. This event will feature men and women’s pro amateur divisions and legends. In addition, there will be several activities including a raffle and bikini contest. All proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association. Entry deadline is May 18th so apply today!

4th Annual Flagler Beach Chili Cook Off

Come out and enjoy the 4th Annual Flagler Beach Chili Cook Off at Veteran’s Park where guests will enjoy the New Orleans Dixieland Style music that will be played by the US Navy “TGIF” Band. Car Clubs will be cruising in to put their cars on display for. And of course, there will be plenty of fun and chili to enjoy for all those in attendance. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket and to enjoy the music and food that will be available to them. For registration, rules, or just more information call 386-517-2040.

Christmas Boat Parade

On Saturday, December 4 the Palm Coast Yacht Club will be posting a Christmas Boat Parade. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. in the Cimmaron Basin and will make its way to the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway. The parade will then go to Waterfront Park and the Hammock Dunes Toll Bridge ending at the Intercoastal Waterway which is considered to have the best view of the parade. Any boat owner who lives in Flagler County is encouraged to participate in the fun parade. There are no limitations to how you’d like to decorate your boat and one does not have to pay a participation fee to have their boat on display. 9th Annual Festival of Trees

The 9th annual Festival of Trees will be starting on Friday, December 3, 2010. The Flagler County Public Library and the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the kickoff at 6:30 pm. The festival will feature decorated trees and holiday items that were submitted by churches, schools, and civic organizations. Their decorated ornaments will reflect the various ways in which people of different backgrounds celebrate the holiday season. They will be on display for the entire month of December.

Volunteers can come help set up any time between November 30 – December 2, 2010 by filing out an application that can be obtained by contacting Karen Burnett at 386-446-6764 #3.


Affordable Art and Poetry

Come out to the Gargulo Art Foundation Inc’s third “Affordable Art and Poetry Show” beginning on Saturday, November 13. The event will be taking place at the Hollingsworth Gallery and will run through January 7, 2011. The opening reception will begin at 6:00pm on November 13th where visitors can enjoy wine, food and live music provided by Carol Brown. This year’s theme, “Work Created in 15 Minutes or Less” forced artists to get out of their comfort zones and think outside of the box. Guests will be able to purchase original drawings, limited edition prints, paintings, photographs, and sketches for only $50.

Sunset River Cruise

On Friday, November 12th, The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach will be hosting a ranger guided sunset river cruise.

Those who participate will board the Hurricane Queen and take a relaxing cruise that will take them down the Intercoastal Waterway. For the duration of this one hour cruise, participants will explore the diverse ecosystems and birds along the river as well as enjoy the evening sunset.

Reservations for the tour are required. To RSVP, call 386-517-2086. The tour is a $15 donation per person which will go towards The 2nd Annual Gamble Rogers Memorial Music Celebration. It also includes all park admissions fee.

VISIT FLORIDA “Share a Little Sunshine” Beach Walk

On Saturday, November 6th, Flagler Volunteer Services will be hosting the VISIT FLORIDA Beach walk which will be taking place from 7:30 am to 11:00 am. Friends and families who will be participating are looking forward to a fun day in the sun as they walk a mile taking pictures of Flagler County’s beaches and uploading their photos to http://www.sharealittlesunshine.org.

Flagler Volunteer Services will also hold a photo contest following the walk. There will be several categories to participate in including, Best Beach Photo by a Senior (55 and above), Best Youth Beach Photo, Best Group Beach Photo and Best Beach Photo by a local business.
